Community Conversations

Tomorrow, we’ll be joined by Ed Giansante for Context First: How a One-Person Community Team Influenced $3M in Pipeline.

Ed leads community at Persona, and one of the things I’m looking forward to hearing from him is how a small community function decides where to focus.

When you’re a team of one, almost everything can feel important.

Member experience matters. Events matter. Sales partnership matters. Internal reporting matters. Leadership education matters. So does the day-to-day work of keeping the community useful enough for people to return.

The hard part is choosing the work that can create value for members and also help the business understand why community matters.

That’s where I think this conversation will be especially useful. Community influence usually doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from building the right internal relationships, creating repeatable programs, and translating what’s happening in the community into language other teams can use.

For those of you building or managing community with a small team, where do you feel the biggest tension: member programming, internal alignment, measurement, sales partnership, or something else?

What does it take for a small community team to influence the business?
