Community Tactics with Gradual: Inside a Community Migration — What Really Makes It Work

Go behind the scenes with Splunk’s Ryan Paredez to learn the real work behind a successful community migration and how to guide members through change.

A community migration can look like a technical project from the outside, but the real work happens behind the scenes. It’s about guiding people through change, keeping members engaged, and aligning teams around a shared vision.

In this Community Tactics with Gradual session, Ryan Paredez , Sr. Community Manager at Splunk, shares what it took to migrate the AppDynamics community into Splunk successfully. He’ll walk through how his team:

Cleaned up accounts and consolidated content to create a fresh start

Designed test runs to identify issues before launch

Communicated clearly with members to maintain trust

Partnered across teams to align on goals and execution

You’ll learn how Ryan balanced technical precision with empathy and communication, what worked well, what didn’t, and what he’d approach differently next time. Expect straightforward lessons you can apply to your next major community project.

What to expect:

A 30-minute tactical session focused on one proven play

Actionable guidance you can adapt for your own programs

An async AMA inside the Gradual community before and after the event

This session is for practitioners who want real examples, not theory. Join to see what truly makes a community migration succeed and how to bring your members along for the journey.
